Volunteer Stewards Program The Old Lyme Conservation Trust invites you to participate in our Volunteer Stewards Program! Maybe you live close to one of our properties or you just enjoy being outdoors on a regular basis? Please join us help care for our preserves and parcels here in Old Lyme. Please fill in the form below or contact us if you are interested in becoming a Steward. If you are already a Steward, you can click here to go to our Property Report Form. Program Objectives
Role and responsibilities of the Volunteer Steward 1. Get to know your property and visit it regularly, keeping an eye out for hazards, encroachments, litter and invasives. Look for positive enhancements we could undertake, like potential new trails, parking improvements, etc. 2. Get to know the borders of your property. Consult with Ted Crosby if you need him to go into the field with you with his GPS to help locate marker stones. Contact Mike Kiernan if you want to look at the files where we keep deeds for properties. When you are ready to put up OLCT markers along the boundaries, contact Richard Conniff and we can organize a volunteer crew to help. 3. Get to know the people neighboring your property. We'd like to have an email and phone contact list for all our abutters, so we can keep neighbors posted about issues, attractions, and fundraising needs. (Wear your new OLCT caps!) 4.
Keep OLCT informed about work you think needs to be taken care of.
We can organize a work crew to visit the property, or budget funds for
larger jobs. We have a stewardship report
form online or you can just call (Dick Conniff, Ted Crosby, Mike
Kiernan, Diana Blair, Susanne Carey).
