Recent Property Acquisitions
2007 has been the best year in a long time
in terms of the number of new properties acquired by the Trust.
The following properties have recently been purchased by or donated to
the Trust (scroll down for a map):

0.75 acres donated by Malcolm Speirs (Oct. 2006)
-
16 acres purchased from Nancy Griswold (March 2007)
-
18 acres purchased from the Filosi family (April 2007)
-
5 acres purchased from Amanda Blair (June 2007) - Borders existing 18 (marsh) acres already owned by the Trust.
-
16 acres purchased from Matthew Griswold XI (July 2007) - This property is adjacent to property b and c above and they combine into a new 50 acre preserve.
-
8 acres donated by Elizabeth DeGerenday (Aug. 2007) - Borders the existing Hoffman preserve. This donation will create a total preserve that is 33% larger than the current preserve.
These properties are not yet open to the public but the Trust will work to provide access and trails for the properties where this is possible.
The Old Lyme Conservation Trust wishes to express its genuine and true gratitude to the above donors and sellers. It is exciting that in a time when land is becoming scarce, and when land owners might be hesitant to step forward in the area of land conservation, there are still people who have made this important decision that will benefit the inhabitants of the Town of Old Lyme forever. The Trust also wishes to thank all its members, donors and volunteers - you make it happen.
