Mission Statement
The mission of the Old Lyme Conservation
Trust is to:
Preserve and enhance the rural character and
quality of life for the benefit of all the inhabitants in the Town of
Old Lyme.

In pursuit of this Mission, the Old Lyme
Conservation Trust will achieve results in the following areas:
- Preservation and enhancement of the
natural resources including water resources, marshland, swamps,
woodland and open spaces, plant and animal life therein, beaches,
and unique historic and scenic sites.
- Public awareness, education, and the
scientific study of natural resources, including plants, animals,
birds and other wildlife.
- Interest and public involvement in
the political governing process that will impact the future rural
character of the Town.
- Preservation of unique historic and
scenic sites.
Policies to achieve
results
- Acquire or control (by gift,
purchase or otherwise) real and personal property, both tangible and
intangible of every sort and description.
Invest, use, develop and maintain such property in such manner that
the Trustees of the corporation shall deem appropriate to carry out
the Mission.
Raise funds from the general public, public financing and grant
making organizations.
Use all funds and property, held or otherwise controlled by this
corporation, exclusively for the benefit of all the inhabitants of
the Town of Old Lyme.
- Support educational and research
programs to increase public awareness of the importance of our
Mission.
- Encourage individual and group
participation in public affairs that will impact the allocation of
public resources and share of mind to preserving the rural character
and quality of life in Old Lyme.
- Acquire or control unique historic
and scenic sites in order to maintain and enhance them for public
use and appreciation.
